The only Maternity & Nursing Boutique in Yorkshire has opened in Anlaby
What started out as an online retailer, selling fashionable maternity and nursing clothes has now opened what is believed to be the first of its kind for the North of England; a boutique dedicated to dressing pregnant and nursing mothers.
The founder and owner of Fashionably Pregnant, Laura Gawthorpe, said; “After personally struggling to find fashionable and affordable maternity clothes myself when I was pregnant, it became very clear that regardless of how far you are prepared to travel, you can not find a store that sells a wide variety of maternity clothes, the option to try on and be happy with the price in one go.
“I was determined to change that. So, I initially set up an online shop selling a wide variety of maternity and nursing clothes, ranging from basics to evening gowns, winter coats, yoga pants, workwear, swimming costumes, nursing dresses and tops, however after I was inundated with local expectant mothers asking if they could come to my home and try on the clothes as they did not know what size to order, I decided to make the experience a whole lot more welcoming and that is how the boutique was born.
“In Hull and East Yorkshire alone, we had 6419 births in 2017 (ONS 2017), since then more and more retailers have moved their maternity ranges online, leaving our mums-to-be with a shortage of places to visit without having to order online and run the risk of ordering the wrong size or the item not looking right.
“As I have a young family and lucky enough to have the space, I have opened the shop at my home, meaning I can open the boutique for customers when it suits them, evening or weekend appointments are absolutely no problem. I am the only approved independent stockist of Mamalicious products in the North of England and on average I hold 10 – 15 different brands of maternity and nursing clothes at any one time to give as much choice as possible.”
Not only is Fashionably Pregnant keen to give you a one-to-one experience, the price you pay is also very important to Laura. She prides herself on finding the best quality items and selling them as low as possible to you, knowing how short-term a maternity and nursing wardrobe often is.
The only boutique of its kind in the North of England opened its doors on Monday 25th March 2019 and the feedback has been amazing.
